The armadillo is the state animal of Texas but the longhorn became the large mammal symbol of Texas in 1995. Scientifically named Lupinus texensis, the bluebonnet was adopted as the official state flower by the Texas Legislature in 1901. Designed in 1881 by architect Elijah E. Myers, the Texas State Capitol building was constructed from 1882 to 1888. It’s majestic architecture is a classy backdrop for many photographs. For 24 years, the ROT Rally has brought bike riders and enthusiasts from all 50 states and international locations to Austin, Texas for the largest motorcycle bike rally in the United States.
