Mary's Touch Program 4.12: Sherri Davis and Gary

This week we continue our award-winning series  featuring Sherri Davis with a program that first aired in 2007.

In 2007, Sherri Davis of Austin, TX, was diagnosed with small-cell lung cancer. She visited with Cheri Lomonte and Sally Robb four different times, sharing her faith-filled story of hope, and dedicating her suffering to those asking for her prayers. These programs a...re perhaps the most powerful Mary’s Touch episodes that we have ever broadcast.

In this week's show, Mary's Touch 4.12, Sherri continues her story, discussing how it feels to be a patient with terminal illness and how her faith has affected those caring for her.

Also, this week you’ll hear from Gary. As a new convert, but still a little far from the faith, Gary went to Marian conference, not to look for the Blessed Mother, but to close a business deal. What Gary did not know is that Mary was looking for him, too, and she intended to close a deal with Gary in the name of her Son.

Mary's Touch Program 4.11: Sherri Davis

This week we have a very, very special Mary’s Touch for you.

In May 2007, Sherri Davis of Austin, TX, was diagnosed with small-cell lung cancer. Over the course of the next nine months, she visited with Cheri Lomonte and Sally Robb four different times, sharing her faith-filled story of hope, and dedicating her sufferi
ng to those asking for her prayers. These programs, four in total, are perhaps the most powerful Mary’s Touch episodes that we have ever broadcast.

July 16th, the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, was also Sherri’s birthday. In remembrance of her birthday and the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, we are privileged to bring you, over the next four weeks, an encore presentation of Sherri's powerful story.

To begin, this week you’ll hear Sherri talk about suffering and how it is what we do with the suffering that matters most. When we offer our suffering to God for others, when we offer suffering with love and joy, God can take that suffering and do amazing things.

Nearing her late thirties, she discerned a call to motherhood. However, as the years went by and no children arrived, she turned to Our Lady of Sorrows to help guild her next steps....

...And you’ll also hear from Jackie. She battled alcoholism and depression for most of her life. It was not until she abandoned herself to Mary, as a frighten child would to her mother, that she found the security and love that she needed to battle her addiction.

Then, when she was pregnant with her fourth child, a little girl, she found out that her unborn daughter had a serious heart defect. Donna promised God that if her daughter lived, she would dedicated her life to children. Now, many years later, Donna has made good on that promise by reaching out to children in Africa....

...And you’ll hear from Juan Diego. Today, He proudly serves our country as a United States Marine. Not long ago, however, Juan Diego faced the challenge of Boot Camp. Mary's Touch Program 4.06: FRONTLINE FAITH: A special edition featuring Colonel Nick Nussio and Rosie Babin

This week, in a special Mary’s Touch, we offer a preview of the Frontline Faith Project!

In partnership with the Archdiocese for the Military Services, CatholicMilitary.org, and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospitality North American Volunteers, we have gathered prayers, stories, music, and a powerful recording of the Mass and Rosary, and put all of them on an MP3 player. Staring very soon, we will be giving these MP3 players at no charge to the Catholic members of our armed forces stationed all over the world.

"To our troops serving at bases, from battle ships, command stations, and FOBs around the world: We thank you for your inspiring commitment to God and our country. We are profoundly grateful for your generous example of service. We know, often, it comes at great personal sacrifice. Your dedication to those that you so unwaveringly serve mirrors our Lord’s love: 'No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends.' (John 15:13-14). God bless you all, and may St. Michael and our Mother Mary protect you.”

~ Cheri Lomonte

Our first Frontline Faith story comes from Colonel Nick Nussio. As a major in the 2nd brigade, 3rd infantry division, Colonel Nussio tells the story of how he and his men felt God watching over them as they rolled out of Kuwait, across Iraq, and into Baghdad as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom in April, 2003.

In our second Frontline Faith story, you’ll hear from Rosie Babin, mother of Corporal Alan Babin, a medic with the 82nd Airborne Division. While tending to the wounds of a fellow Airman, Corporal Babin was shot in the abdomen and critically wounded. His mother, an Army veteran herself, tells the story of her son’s injuries and faith during his recovery, reminding us that no matter how awful things may seem, the task ahead is the same for everyone: to find a new normal.

Musical Credits:

* Music for Col. Nussio:  “A Young Church” from Curt Siffert. Find his music at www.curtsiffert.com

* Music for Rosie Babin: “A New Day” from Matthew Mayer’s Full of Grace. Find his music at www.matthewmayer.com.

Mary's Touch Program 4.05: John Michael Talbot and Sandy

This week on Mary's Touch, you’ll from John Michael Talbot. In the early 70’s, he dreamed of being a rock star. One evening, after a wild concert, he realized how empty a life of fame was and that he needed to change―to change dramatically...and so he traveled deep into the woods of Arkansas. And there, he set his feet on a path towards Christ and His Blessed Mother....

...And you’ll also hear from Sandy. When her daughter fell ill, she reached out to Mary with a desperate prayer for help.

Mary's Touch Program 4.04: Fred Berretta and Theresa

This week on Mary's Touch, you’ll from Fred Berretta. He was like many Catholic men in America: Although he had been raised in the Church, his faith did not play a central role in his life. As fate would have it, just as Fred was rediscovery his Catholic faith, the plane he was on, Flight 1549, made an emergency landing on the Hudson River. This “flight of faith” changed Fred’s life....

...And you’ll hear from Theresa. She wanted to serve Our Lord without hesitation. To find her calling, she started with a deep prayer to our Blessed Mother.

Mary's Touch Program 4.03: Dr. John Bruchalski and Ellie

This week, you’ll from Dr. John Bruchalski. He grew up in a strong Polish, Catholic family but left the Church in his early twenties. As a young OB-GYN resident, he firmly believed that contraception, sterilization, and abortion were absolutely necessary to “free” women from the chains of their fertility. However, while visiting the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, he was halted in his tracks by a voice that demanded, “Why are you hurting me?”...

...And you’ll hear from Ellie. After her grandson visited Lourdes, her children suggested that she do the same. Nothing in the world could have prepared her for the beauty of this shrine or the power of its healing waters.

...And you’ll hear from Sister Shields. While she was growing up, Sister Shields always saw Mary as distant and removed for her life. It was not until her mid-thirties that Sister came to understand that to truly have Mary as her Mother, she needed to listen closely to what Mary’s Son Jesus told her to do.
